Imagine

Is the meaning of these words the same (S) or different (D) ?

1. Peace/War D        2. to kill/ to die      3. above us/ below us   4. to imagine/ to wonder
5. it's easy/it isn't hard   5. possesions/furniture  6. heaven/hell   7. greed/hunger

Listen to the song Imagine by John Lennon and complete the gaps

Imagine there's no (1)
(2) if you try
No hell (3)
(4) only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no (5)
(6)  to do
Nothing to kill or (7) for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in (8)

You may say I'm a (9)
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll (10) us
And the world will live as one

Imagine no (11)
I (12) if you can
No need for (13) or (14)
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
(15) all the world

You may say I'm a (16)
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll (17) us
And the world will live as one

What if?

What if the things that John Lennon sings came true, how would things be different?
EXAMPLE:
If there were no wars, the world would be a better place.
or
The world would be a better place, if there were no wars.

This is called the 3rd conditional. We use it to predict a future possibility; something that is not likely to happen tomorrow but may happen one day.
Form: if + past simple + would(n't) + infinitive without to

Complete the conditional sentences

If there weren't any countries.....
If everyone lived for today......
If people didn't have possessions....
If there were no religions.....

What would you do?

What would you do if you were president of your country?

If I were president of my country I would.......
